SquareShakes. The Future of Social Commerce?

While some consider Instagram to be a creative platform where artists and amateurs can share their photos, others think of it as a way for people to show their self-obsession through selfies. Either way, Instagram is the perfect tool to reach your target audience. But how do you create a picture perfect Instagram campaign?

During Coachella, Sonic Drive-In created #SquareShakes in partnership with Christine Flynn. These shakes were specifically created for Coachella attenders who were reached through Instagram where they could buy the shakes by simply pressing a button. The shakes were then delivered by a geo-fence overlaid on the festival. The shakes were ‘paid’ by posting a picture.

Some think this campaign could be the future of social commerce as it is only available for Instagram users. The fact that they are squared shakes also enhances the Instagram theme, as many know the social platform for its layout with squared photographs. And with #Food being one of the most used hashtags, the campaign is certain to be a big success.
